MILFORD, Del.-  A Frederica man is behind bars for sexually assaulting a minor, according to the Milford Police Department.

Officers responded to the area of Fisher Avenue and Southeast Front Street on Wednesday after a report of a missing child, believed to be a runaway, was seen in a car in the area, police said.

Officers made contact with the child and 36-year-old Denord Desir, police said.

According to police, further investigation revealed the two had reportedly been in a room at the Days Inn on North DuPont Highway prior to being contacted by police.

While in the room at the Days Inn, Desir allegedly sexually assaulted the victim, police said.

Desir was arrested and charged with four counts of third-degree rape and presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $60,000 secured. Additionally, he was issued a no contact order with the victim and any person under the age of 18.

Desir was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 14 at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.

Phillips Packing House Named One of Six in Maryland to "Fix"

Conservationists call it a "threatened historic place." The Phillips Packing House in Cambridge was built in the 1920s. At its peak, nearly 10,000 employees packed vegetables and shucked oysters inside its factory. But after closing in the 60's, the building and its two, towering smokestacks have sat untouched. But now, a new initiative aims to restore the Phillips Packing House as soon as this year.
