Salisbury Man Advocates for Dirt Bike Park in Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md.- One Salisbury man is advocating for a dirt bike park to be built in Salisbury and some bikers think it's a great idea.

After getting connected with several bikers in Salisbury, Andrew Davis said something could be done in the city to keep the bikers safe and off of main roads.

"I feel that they need a positive source to get out their ambitions and their drive and its addressing the lawlessness and the safety issue first and foremost and looking at it from a stand point of lets give these kids a source ,similar to the Salisbury skate park, where they can ride and they can feel like they're not being chased down or being ran off or treated like outlaws," Davis said.

Bikers in Salisbury said that riding in a place that's solely designated for dirt biking would be great, especially if police won't be watching their every move.

"When I see cops... we understand that you're doing your jobs but its just having fun. You all need to get a bike and come ride," said a Salisbury biker who goes by the name "Weaves."

Fellow biker Ty Jones agreed and said the benefits of this park would be huge. Jones said, "it will create more fun for us, less injuries, less trouble less everything.. just more fun."

Davis said in the end it all comes down to one thing and that's safety.

"The biggest concern is their safety and making sure they're riding in a good place," Davis said.

"Oh, I think its a great idea. I think it would be great to have a place where they can go. I'm actually a motorcycle enthusiast myself. I was on the motor unity. So, I love motorcycles. I just want to see them do it and that would be a great solution," said 1st Sgt. David Dalfonso of the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack.
