Many nonprofit organizations in Delaware rely on grant in aid money, including the CHEER center, in Georgetown, Delaware.

As part of Delaware's new budget, nonprofits could see a difference because of the cuts. Ken Bock, chief executive officer of CHEER, which serves Delaware seniors, explained the impact of the budget cuts to his organization.

"Unfortunately, there are going to be impacts on some of our customers out there. CHEER is going to do everything we possibly can to maintain services to the greatest extent," Bock said.

CHEER offers a full range of services for senior citizens. Services including personal care, transportation, housing, and meals. However, some of that funding will be cut and Bock calls that a shame.

"Nonprofit organizations like CHEER do provide value for the citizens and taxpayers of Delaware and the mission we perform is very vital to citizens in Sussex County," Bock said.

CHEER is just one of many nonprofits across Delaware that could loose precious grant money. Now, nonprofit organizations like CHEER are faced with the challenge of making up the shortfall.
