Police: Woman Attempts to Hit Victim in Assault with Car

GEORGETOWN, Del. - Georgetown police say a woman is in custody after a weekend assault at the Dunbarton Apartments.

Police said that at around 10 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the apartment complex following a domestic complaint. Upon arrival, police were met by two women in the parking lot who stated that a female victim was standing in the parking lot when 44-year-old Sacajawea Whaley attempted to drive her car into the victim.

According to the witnesses, the victim ran out of the direction of the moving car into the stairwell of the apartment complex, when Whaley grabbed a glass bottle and threw the bottle into the direction of the victim's head. Following that incident, Whaley got back into her car and attempted to hit the victim once again, police said.

Police arrested Whaley for first-degree reckless endangering , third-degree assault, criminal mischief and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. She was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Delores B. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $8,750 secured bail.
