New Median Fence along US 50 Business in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.- The intense summer heat isn't stopping construction workers from working outside. Workers spent the sweltering day on a new project along Business Route 50 in Salisbury.

Residents can look forward to a median fence, new landscaping, and a bicycle lane. And instead of three driving lanes, there will be two.

While some residents are excited about the construction, others are not.

"Condensing from three lanes to two especially during the morning traffic and the evening traffic will be quite congested. It opens up better when it is three lanes and condensing down to two will probably create some problems," says Steven Liller.

Others like Pastor Greg Morris of Parkway Church of Good are thankful for the construction.

"Even though it creates inconveniences for some who travel the road, it will be a blessing in the long run, says Pastor Morris"

The construction includes a fence that will be built on the median to prevent people from jay-walking. The fence will go along Business Route 50 from Ward Street to East Main Street.

Officials with the State Highway Administration say the construction should not slow down the traffic and is slated for completion by the end of September.
