SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says a man is in custody on assault charges after he allegedly swung a pair of martial arts "nun-chucks" at two women before pulling a knife on them.

Deputies responded to a call at a home in the 32000 block of Johnson Road in Salisbury for a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy met with two women who claimed they were confronted by 45-year-old Clayton Cordell, Sherrill,  who lives at the home.

The women told deputies that Sherrill swung "nun-chucks" in their direction, making threats toward them before pulling out a knife, the Sheriff's Office said.

During the investigation that followed, deputies recovered both the "nun-chuck" and the knife, later taking Sherrill into police custody. At the time of arrest, deputies detected Sherrill was impaired by alcohol, the Sheriff's Office said.

Sherrill was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. He has been charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
