Rehoboth Beach Fire Company to Receive Grant Award

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Nearly $200,000 will help the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company through a federal grant award.

The award was announced Thursday by U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons as well as U.S. Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester.  The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is aimed at supporting safety and operations for the fire company.  

The money, according to Delaware Delegation, will fund the purchases of portable and mobile radio equipment, washers and dryers for fire company gear.  The new equipment will assist the company communicate, keep up with new state regulations and have a cleaner working environment.

Representative Blunt-Rochester said that firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line and show remarkable bravery every day, it's time to reward them. 

"In return for their sacrifice, it is our responsibility to ensure they have the equipment necessary to do their job effectively and safely," Blunt-Rochester said.
