Pitchers at this year's softball tournament hope to strike out the other team. For businesses in Wicomico County - they say they've already struck gold.

Hotel staff at The Hampton Inn in Salisbury have been preparing since January for the event. Now, they're booked.

"USSSA is our heart," said Hampton Inn Sales Director, Chelsey Jones. "It's our bread and butter for July, so we really just enjoy having them here and focusing on our guests during this time."

Ashlyn Desaulniers and Sophie Garner-Mackinnon from Connecticut say they've enjoyed their visit.

"This is my first real time out in Maryland," said Garner-Mackinnon. "It's exciting."

Wicomico County officials esitmate the tournament generates nearly $19 million.

While players and families visit, parents will crack open their wallet. Colin Kutz says it's worth it.

"I have no complaints whatsoever," Kutz said. "I'd come down here every weekend if I didn't have to work."

The tournament runs through July 29th.

There is a intersection in Salisbury off Route 50 that has several roads leading into it and 12 traffic lights regulating it.

Mount Hermon Road, Long Avenue, Truitt Street, East Williams Street, and Main Street all intersect at one central location.

People in the community have mixed feelings about the intersection. Some say it should be left alone because it regulates traffic just fine while others say it is a nuisance.
