DOVER, Del. -- Hot and humid weather plagued parts of Delmarva like Kent County on Wednesday, causing uncomfortable conditions amid clouds and some stormy weather during the day.

An air quality alert was also in effect on Wednesday as a recent trend of hot weather continued in the area, marking conditions that could make it difficult for people who may have various health conditions.

"It's just the humidity, a lot of it," said Amy Janssen of Dover. "We just have a lot of humidity and if it was just a little bit cooler it would be nice but, it could be worse."

Ronald Mays was doing landscaping work with the City of Dover on Wednesday afternoon. He said staying hydrated was important during the midday hours while the sun was beating down on him.

"It's horribly hot, having to keep the uniform and the vest on," he said.

Bill Campbell of Cheswold made a brief trip to the post office with his dog during the afternoon hours but looked forward to getting back indoors.

"We just came out of the house, so it'll be 10 minutes, 15 minutes and we'll be back in the house," he said.
