Delaware Woman Arrested for Dorchester County Stabbing

DENTON, Md.- A Delaware woman has been arrested in connection with a Dorchester County stabbing, according to Maryland State Police.

Police said 25-year-old Shanyda Milton, of Hurlock, was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center where she is being treated for her injuries. 

26-year-old Shameka Matthews, of Laurel, Delaware, was charged with first and second degree assault among other charges, according to MSP. 

Troopers said they responded to a domestic situation call on Jones Village Road in Hurlock when they reportely found Milton outside the home with multiple upper body stab wounds. 

Police said they believe Milton and Matthews are sisters. MSP said during their investigation they learned the two women had a verbal argument before Matthews found a box cutter and stabbed Milton. 

Matthews is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center, without bond, accoding to MSP.  Police said the investigation is being continued in Dorchester County.
