Worcester County Cooling Stations Opening

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- Worcester County Emergency Service officials are advising people to use caution this week as extreme temperatures come across Delmarva. 

The following cooling stations are being opened in Worcester County:

   County Libraries in Berlin, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Pocomoke and Snow Hill will be open during normal hours from Thursday to Saturday.  Saturday the Ocean Pines library will remain open from 3-5 p.m. after the branch closes.  For Worcester County library hours contact 410-632-2600. 

   Showell Volunteer Fire Department lobby will be open on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. with seating and water available.  Any questions can contact 410-352-5916. 

   Worcester County Government Center's first floor will be open from 1-5 p.m. with seating and water available. 

Worcester County Emergency Services advises drinking plenty of fluids (avoiding caffeine and alcohol) and taking frequent breaks to avoid overheating.  Contact 911 in the event of a health related emergency.
