Posted: Updated:

REHOBOTH, Del.- Delaware State Police say they arrested a Rehoboth Beach man for his 5th DUI offense after he crashed his moped while his son was sitting on his lap.

Anthony F. Taglienti, 48, was taken into custody by officers on Tuesday following a crash that occurred at around 6:30 p.m. in the area of the 19000 block of Golden Avenue, Sea Air Mobile Home Park.

Troopers said the investigation revealed Taglienti was operating a 2012 Puma moped with his 2-year-old son on his lap in the park when he lost control, causing both of them to fall to the ground.

The 2-year-old suffered several abrasions and was transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare where he was treated for the non-life-threatening injuries.

Taglienti was also taken to Beebe by EMS where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Police said that upon transporting Taglienti back to Troop 7 in Lewes, a DUI investigation came out positive for consuming alcohol.

Tanglienti was charged with 5th offense driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said the four previous DUI offenses were in 1998, two in 2006 and 2014.

Tanglienti was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree vehicular assault and driving while suspended or revoked.

He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $17,200 cash bond.
