SMYRNA, Del.- An 86-year-old inmate at Delaware's maximum security prison has died.

The Department of Correction said in a statement Friday that Frank L. Williams died at the infirmary at James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution near Smyrna on Wednesday afternoon after a prolonged illness. Officials said foul play is not suspected.

Williams, of New Castle, was serving a seven-year sentence for third-degree attempted rape since 2011. His body was turned over to the State Division of Forensic Science, as is standard procedure.
