Milford Woman Arrested for Stealing Money from High School Booster Club

LEWES, Del. – A Milford woman has been charged with felony theft after an investigation revealed she stole more than $27,000 from a local booster club, according to police.

After an investigation, Delaware State Police arrested 42-year-old, Stephanie L. Trimmer, of Milford, and charged her with one count of theft over $1,500.

Detectives were alerted the money was missing on Thursday, July 27.

On June 1, the Cape Henlopen School District informed detectives that the boys' high school lacrosse boosters account had a negative balance, when it should have contained several thousands of dollars.

Trimmer, who was the president of the booster club, was the only person since 2016 to have full access to this account.

The investigation revealed that starting around February of 2016, Trimmer went to various banks throughout eastern Sussex County. Police said Trimmer wrote checks out to herself for cash and failed to turn in receipts to the booster club's treasurer.

According to officers, Trimmer continued to do this until March of 2017 and then she depleted the account for approximately $27, 995.

Trimmer was arraigned at JP2 and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
