Small Fire Evacuates Rehoboth Beach Hotel Overnight

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Just before midnight, emergency crews responded to a small fire at a Rehoboth Beach hotel.

Rehoboth Beach firefighters said early Monday the fire was reported at 11:54 p.m. Sunday in the basement of the Atlantic Sands Hotel at 101 N. Boardwalk. The fire was in a dryer, but it was extinguished by the sprinkler system. The hotel was evacuated.

Firefighters remained on the scene for a couple of hours removing smoke and water from the building. No injuries were reported.

Rehoboth Beach Firefighters were assisted by Lewes Fire Department, the Bethany Beach Fire Company, Rehoboth Beach Police and Sussex County EMS. The Indian River and Milton Fire Companies covered the Rehoboth Fire Stations during the alarm.
