PNC Bank Robbery Suspect Found Dead at Wicomico County Detention Center

SALISBURY, Md. - A man arrested for robbing a Salisbury PNC Bank branch was found dead at the Wicomico County Detention Center over the weekend.

Officers found that 52-year-old Erland Edward Roessler III hung himself and was unresponsive.

Roessler was transferred to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to Wicomico County, Roessler had been working at the County Roads Department as part of the Poplar Hill pre-release work program.

Upon his release, Wicomico County hired him on a probationary basis to continue working for the roads division.

Last Friday night, Roessler was arrested and charged with the robbery of the PNC on Isabella Street, which happened earlier that day. 

According to officials, Roessler was being held at the detention facility for a hearing and there was nothing unusual about his behavior or demeanor.
