Aunt and Niece Arrested for Assault in Milford

MILFORD, Del.- An aunt and her niece were arrested for assaulting each other and then an officer, according to the Milford Police Department. 

The incident reportedly happened July 28 at an apartment in Brightway Commons. Police said 32-year-old Dana Harris and her niece, 18-year-old Dana D. Harris, were involved in an altercation with another woman and then turned on each other. Police said when an officer arrived on the scene and attempted to separate the two women, both aunt and niece struck the officer. 

The officer received minor injuries, according to police.

Police said Dana Harris and Dana D. Harris resisted arrest before being taken into custody.  

Dana Harris was charged with second-degree assault with injury to a law enforcement officer, third-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to police. She is being held on a $7,500 unsecured bail.  

Dana D. Harris was charged with second-degree assault with injury to law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to police.  She is being held on a $12,100 unsecured bond. 

Police said both Dana Harris and Dana D. Harris' preliminary hearings are scheduled on Aug. 11 in Kent County.
