OCEAN CITY, Md.- Rescues on Ocean City's beaches have significantly increased after last weekend's storm.

The Ocean City Beach Patrol said that the number of rescues starting Monday have nearly skyrocketed.

Normally averaging 25 rescues a day, the OCBP said that beginning Monday they were at around nearly 200 rescues a day.

First Lt. Skip Lee of the OCBP said, "We've had a relatively calm summer up until this weekend and we had a pretty significant storm come through which altered the contour of the bottom of the ocean. As a result, Monday and Tuesday we did have a significant increase in the number of rescues."

Lee said for beach goers to go by their golden rule, "Feet in the sand, til a lifeguard's in the stand."
