Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del.- A Seaford man who shot his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend has been sentenced to a decade behind bars, the Delaware Department of Justice said Friday.

Prosecutors said that in July of last year, 26-year-old Djefly Florestal got into an argument with the victim and shot him in his shoulder and arm, with one of the bullets penetrating the victim’s lung.

Florestal pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and first-degree assault in June.

In addition to his prison sentence, Florestal was also ordered by a Superior Court judge to complete substance abuse programs.
