GEORGETOWN, Del. – Police have identified the two people killed in a Friday afternoon crash just west of Georgetown.

According to the Delaware State Police, 57-year-old George C. Hassett of Seaford and 76-year-old Katherine E. Chick of Georgetown were the two killed.

Police say around 1:12 p.m at the intersection of County Seat Highway and Tyndall Road, Hassett was traveling westbound on Route 9 when he crossed the double yellow line and into Chick's path. Police say despite Chick swerving to avoid him, the vehicles collided head on in the eastbound lane. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and declared dead at the scene. A 45-year-old female passenger in Hassett's car was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

The roadway was closed for roughly four hours due to the crash. It remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
