Impaired Driver Causes Crash in Newark

NEWARK, Md.- A two truck crash on US Route 113 sent an impaired driver to shock trauma Monday, according to Maryland State Police.

MSP said 30-year-old Kamron Michael Lucas was driving a Chevrolet truck that failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the lane of travel occupied by a Ford truck.  The Ford truck struck the Chevrolet at the driver's side door.

The driver and passengers of the Ford weren't injured in the crash, according to MSP.  Lucas appeared impaired after being treated on scene by Newark EMS.

Troopers said they smelled marijuana in Lucas' truck and recovered the suspected drugs.  Lucas was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries, according to MSP.

MSP said the investigation is ongoing at this time.
