DOVER, Del.- The Dover Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning in a convenience store parking lot.

It happened around 2:50 a.m. outside the 7-Eleven in the Hamlet Shopping Center on Walker Road, police said.

A 24-year-old man was seated in his car in the store's parking lot when two black male suspects allegedly approached the driver side and opened the door, police said.

According to police, the victim said he was pulled out of the car and that one of the suspects pushed a handgun into his rib cage as the two men went through his pockets.

The men ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The first suspect was described as between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, short hair, stocky build and wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. The other suspect was described as between 6-foot-0 and 6-foot-1 and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7111. Tips can also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, online or through the MyPD mobile app.
