KENT COUNTY, Del.- A Kent County house was recently shut down after the court declared it a "criminal nuisance property", according to the Delaware Department of Justice.

Officials said the property on Unity Lane near Greenwood is known as "The Hole." Police investigated the property that was known as a drug location for some time.

The dirt road leading to the home was dug up so law enforcement vehicles were forced to slow down, giving time for suspects to flee through the woods, according to the DOJ.

DOJ said they joined forces with Delaware State Police to record the number of drug transactions in the area as a part of their investigation.

DOJ and DSP declared the property a criminal nuisance on August 4 after investigators escorted the occupants out of the home and barricaded it.

“One or two properties with criminal activity can bring down an entire neighborhood and cause innocent residents in the area to live their lives in fear,” Attorney General Denn said. “That’s why our office has worked so hard over the last year to target such properties. I commend the troopers, attorneys and investigators who worked to close this property in The Hole, and who have impacted other properties as well through our focused efforts.”
