Berlin Gas Leak Prompts Several Home Evacuations

BERLIN, Md. - The Berlin Fire Company responded to a gas leak in Berlin around 7:30am.

The gas leak happened on the intersection of Franklin Ave. and Williams Ave.  According to Berlin Fire Company, Sandpiper Energy construction equipment caused the leak by rupturing a gas line. Several homes were evacuated, but the occupants have been allowed to return.

The Berlin Fire Company stayed on the scene, assisted by units from Ocean Pines until around 10:00am.  Construction and repair of the gas line resumed.
