LEWES, Del. - The body of a 55-year-old man has been found in a wooded area just south of the Lewes Dog Park, according to police.

Police said that on Friday the department launched a missing person investigation in an attempt to locate the man who had walked away from his home at approximately 7 a.m. and did not return.

On Sunday, police began a series of terrain searches in the wooded areas near the intersection of New Road and Park Drive. At approximately 9:10 a.m. Sunday, the body of a white male was found.

The Delaware State Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body and the official cause of death is pending an autopsy. Police say foul play is not suspected.
