OCEAN CITY, Md. -- The Ocean City Police Department has concluded the death investigation of a beach vacationer in Ocean City.

Investigators say around 2 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 30-year-old Ashley O’Connor of Plano, Texas was walking on the beach alone when she sat in a hole approximately 3 to 4 feet deep. At some point, detectives say the hole collapsed while O’Connor was inside and buried her, causing her death. Detectives are still unsure what caused the hole to collapse. No evidence of foul play was found during the investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death as accidental caused by asphyxia due to suffocation. An autopsy revealed there was alcohol in O'Connor's system
