ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan has announced the appointments of Dana Middleton to the Circuit Court for Baltimore City and Harris Murphy to the Circuit Court for Kent County.

The Maryland governor made the appointments after reviewing nominees from current and previous judicial nominating commissions. “After a careful and thorough vetting process, I am confident that Dana Middleton and Harris Murphy are the most qualified candidates to fill these vacancies,” said Governor Hogan. “Their years of public service, as well as their excellence in upholding the law, show that they are both uniquely prepared to serve their respective communities.”

Dana M. Middleton is currently an assistant attorney general for the Office of the Attorney General in the Criminal Division - Organized Crime Unit. Prior to her current position, she worked as a prosecutor with the State’s Attorney’s Office for Baltimore City, served as a clerk for the Honorable Sheila R. Ms. Middleton received her bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University and her J.D. from George Washington University Law School.

Harris P. Murphy currently serves as the state’s attorney for Kent County. Prior to his election as state’s attorney, he served as an assistant public defender for Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties, and worked as a law clerk for the Honorable J. Frederick Price in the Circuit Court for Kent County and for the Honorable Edward A. DeWaters, Jr. in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. He also had his own general practice for two years. Mr. Murphy received his bachelor’s degree from Washington College, and earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
