BRIDGEVILLE, Del.--The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing their investigation following an early morning shooting Thursday that left a 19-year-old Bridgeville man dead.

Police say troopers were called to respond to a shooting on Apple Tree Road south of Oak Road, around 2:33 a.m. Upon their arrival to the scene, troopers made contact with a 35-year-old Georgetown man lying outside of a white car, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. Troopers also found the body of a man, later identified as Tyron Lake, 19, of Bridgeville, seated in a second car, north of the white vehicle.

The 35-year-old man was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics.  He was to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later flown to the Christiana Hospital where he was admitted for his serious injuries. Lake’s body was removed from the scene by the Division of Forensic Sciences. An autopsy determined the death to be a homicide by a gunshot wound to the lower torso.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit in continuing their investigation.  Anyone who may have any information are urged to contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-333.
