Board Revokes Doctor's License Over Painkiller Prescriptions

DOVER, Del. (AP)- A judge has refused to put the revocation of a Delaware doctor's license on hold while he appeals a state licensing board's decision.

The board revoked Paul J. Hannan's license last month after concluding that he was running a pill mill and had intentionally prescribed powerful, addictive painkillers, including Oxycodone, despite knowing the drugs were being resold on the streets.

Authorities began investigating Hannan after eight of his patients were charged with selling prescription drugs in several states.

The judge on Friday refused to stay Hannan's license revocation, saying the only reason for the request was to prevent authorities in Florida from learning of his license revocation in Delaware.

Hannan currently lives in Florida and still runs a Tampa-area pain management practice. He is also licensed in New York.

Crews Cleanup Chesapeake Bay Debris Following Record Rainfall

Earlier this Summer, flooding in areas up north has brought tons of freshwater and debris down through the Susquehanna River. The debris passes through the Conowingo Dam and ends up in the Chesapeake Bay. Most of the debris consists of large tree trunks and limbs. Now, Maryland's Department of Natural Resources says a lot has been cleared in the upper Bay, but four months later, the cleanup continues.
