Police Investigating Dover Armed Robbery and Shooting

DOVER, Del.- The Dover Police Department said officers are investigating an armed robbery after a man shot the victim in the leg before taking his money and shoes and then running off with them. 

It happened shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday at South Governors Avenue and West Division Street. Police said the 29-year-old victim  was walking down the street when another man came up to him, demanding money. The victim said he didn't have any, before the suspect shot him in the leg and took an undisclosed amount of money as well as the victim's shoes, police said.

The victim was taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police said the suspect was only described as a black male wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with more information about this incident is asked to contact the police department at 302-736-7130, or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
