Super Basket Bingo, benefiting the Bless Our Children Hurricane Relief Fun. This event, sponsored by the Delmar VFW and held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the organization's hall on 200 W. State St., Delmar, Md. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and games will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Each game is guaranteed a minimum of a $100 value and most worth more. On Saturday, Oct. 29, Friendship United Methodist Church will be hosting its fourth annual Excellence in Christian Awards at the Georgetown CHEER Center at 6 p.m. The ECS Awards serve to recognize the outstanding efforts of individuals or group ministries that are unsung heroes that go above and beyond to serve their church and its surrounding community. Churches within Sussex County, Del., are encouraged to nominate a commendable affiliated ministry. This year proceeds from ad and ticket sales will go to the Katrina Relief Fund. Booker T. Washington Elementary School, in Dover, Del., has come up with a school drive. All students, family and members of the community are asked to bring in some needed items (from a designated list) to help school children of Hurricane Katrina in the Houston area schools. This is an idea that the fourth grade students came up with to help support the Katrina effort. The peer group will then package the items and send them on to Houston elementary schools to help other students.
A Team of Delaware Veterinarians and Staff are traveling to Louisiana next week to deliver veterinary supplies and to volunteer with existing rescue efforts in the region. Donations of dog and cat food, cat litter, pet crates, latex gloves, hand sanitizer and bottled water can be dropped off at VCA Dover Animal Hospital, 1151 S. Governors Ave., Dover, DE. Rehoboth Beach mothers are collecting clothes to ship to Katrina victims. We are looking for summer and fall clothes and shoes for children of all ages, women and men. The immediate needs are going to mainly focus on warm weather and shoes. We will be sorting the clothes by age groups and gender. We will be boxing clothes at the Rehoboth Beach Service Center located at 4270 Highway 1, Unit "N." We hope to help people immediately with this effort. We will accept all types of clothes and we will need some help with the shipping cost. Any and all donations are appreciated.

Lighthouse Community Church Taking up Special Donation
Lighthouse Community Church in Federalsburg is collecting funds to Globe Missions, an organization with whom we are closely affiliated. They are located in Pensacola, Fla., and are currently coordinating relief supplies and teams of individuals who will be sent out to help with relief and construction once these efforts are permitted.
