Chester House Boat Fire Under Investigation

CHESTER, Md.- The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a house boat fire in Chester that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

According to fire officials, the fire started in the living quarters near the stern of the 50-foot "Catamaran Cruisers" boat a little before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. The boat was docked at a marina at 301 Tackle Circle and was reported by bystanders.

Firefighters from the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. The fire was controlled in about 30 minutes, officials said.

No injuries were reported.
