POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Last Friday, Somerset County Animal Control officials  received an anonymous complaint about Jolindy's Kennel stating that the property is dirty and there were concerns for the dogs living there.

Linda Brown, who is the owner of the kennel located near Pocomoke City, was surprised when the Somerset County Sheriff Office showed up Wednesday with animal control officers to remove all 40 of her German shepherds.

Brown had 38 adults and two pups in the kennel that she said were taken care of.

"I have big healthy, well-fed German shepherds," Brown said. "They weigh like 110 pounds."

Somerset County Sheriff Ronnie Howard said the call stated the dogs were living in unhealthy conditions.

"The kennels were not clean at all, very unkept, they had very serious concerns about the health of the dogs," Howard said.

Linda's son Lawrence Brown said his mom is being treated unfairly. Jolindy's Kennel has been in business for eight years but officials say the kennel is currently not licensed.

"We got inspected last month, everything was up to code and they just came here and said they were taking all of our dogs," Brown said.

The dogs are being held at Somerset County Animal Control while the Somerset Animal Hospital examines each dog, one by one.

This investigation is in the hands of the Somerset County Sheriff's Office and is still ongoing.
