EASTON, Md.- An Easton mother was served a criminal citation for leaving her child unattended in a hot car on Thursday.

Officers responded to 326 E. Dover St. and made contact with the child's mother, Rosalina Hernandez.

Hernandez told police she managed to lock her keys inside. Police said the child, who was under 8 years of age, was inside the hot car with all the windows up. Hernandez reportedly waited 20 minutes before calling for help, police said.

According to responding officers, it was 92 degrees outside with 58 percent humidity, and perspiration could be seen on the child's forehead.

Paramedics were called to the scene and used a lockout kit to open the door and remove the child.

Hernandez was charged on a criminal citation for being in the care of a juvenile under the age of 8 and allowing the child to be locked in a car, which was out of her sight. She was released on citation at the scene, police said.
