Maryland Man Arrested for Drug and Weapon Charges

BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Delaware State Police arrested a Federalsburg, Maryland man for drug and weapons charges after being stopped for driving under the influence.

On Wednesday August, 29, 2018 after 11P.M. when troopers were called to the intersection of Evans Drive and Iris Field Lane to check on the welfare complaint. When the officers arrived, they found a black car stopped in the middle of the intersection with damage to the front end of the car and the driver, 19-year-old Gregory Dukes, passed out behind the wheel. Troopers detected the odor of marijuana.

After investigation, troopers discovered Duke's car struck a ditch after exiting the Sussex Highway. Dukes then drove back onto the road, followed by him passing out at the wheel.

Dukes was then searched and taken into custody. Troopers found 1.4 grams of marijuana, six 1mg of Alprazolam, a .22 caliber revolver, a .22 caliber long rifle, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

Dukes was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a firearm while under the influence, driving a vehicle under the influence of a drug, and more.

Dukes is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,900 secured bond.
