BRIDGEVILLE, Del. -- Delaware State Police were on the scene of a serious two-car crash Tuesday afternoon that left one person in critical condition.

It happened at the intersection of Cedar Corners Road and Redden Road shortly before 1:30 p.m.

State police said that a six-wheel truck was driving west on Redden Road and approaching the intersection when a Ford Fusion pulled out onto the road in front of the truck.

The driver of the truck tried to swerve and avoid the car, but the front bumper of the truck hit the car, police said.

The driver of the car, an 85-year-old woman from Ellendale, was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

The 50-year-old man from Pennsylvania driving the truck was not injured in the incident. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

No charges have been filed at this time. DSP said they are continuing to investigate the crash.

The road was closed for about two and a half hours after the crash.
