Boaters in Ocean City Prepare for Storm

Posted: Sep 13, 2018 9:34 PM -04:00 Updated:
OCEAN CITY, Md.- Boaters across Worcester County are getting ready for the impact of Hurricane Florence.

Although the storm is pushing farther south, Ocean City watermen are still taking heed of the storm warnings.

Sunset Marina says it has taken more than 100 boats out of the water.

"The strong winds could cause damage, the boat could be pushed up on the dock, creating damage that way," says Brian Tinkler, general manager of Sunset Marina.

Boater, Sonny Gwinn hauled his boat last week and says his main concern is dealing with potential floodwaters in Ocean City.

"We live in a sort of low-lying area, when the water comes, it makes it difficult to get out," says Gwinn.

It's a busy time at all Delmarva marinas before the wind and rain arrives.
