SALISBURY, Md.- A Wicomico County Public Schools official has identified a 17-year-old girl killed in a Monday afternoon car crash.

The victim was Navaeh Torrence, a 2018 graduate of James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, according to Paul Butler, director of communication for Wicomico County Public Schools.

Maryland State Police said the crash happened at around 1 p.m. Monday on Nanticoke Road near Centennial Drive in Salisbury.

According to police, Torrence was driving a Honda south on Nanticoke Road when her car crossed into the northbound lane and into the path of a dump truck. Both vehicles collided head-on, and police said the teen died at the scene.

Torrence's body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore.

The driver of the dump truck, a 39-year-old man from Delmar, Del., was not injured in the crash. The truck he was driving belongs to Eastern Shore Forest Products Inc.

Troopers said it was raining at the time of the crash, but they are continuing to investigate the incident.
