Posted: Updated:

SNOW HILL, Md.- Snow Hill Mayor John “Charlie” Dorman is resigning as mayor, effective Oct. 31. Dorman submitted his resignation at the town's mayor and council meeting held Tuesday night.

There is no word yet on why Dorman decided to resign.

The Town Council will be meeting to discuss an interim replacement for Dorman's position. Due to Dorman’s resignation, the town will add the mayor seat to the next municipal election scheduled for May 7, 2019. The successful candidate will serve for one year until the normally scheduled mayoral election occurs in 2020.

The 2019 election will also include the council seats for Western and Central District.

Anyone with questions may contact Town Manager Kelly Pruitt at 410-632-2080 for more information.
