ATLANTIC, Va.- WITH A MESSAGE OF reassurance that the Wallops Flight Facility in Accomack County is safe for many years to come, NASA on Thursday cut the ribbon on a new mission operations command center.

Joined by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center officials, Wallops administrators also opened a new $6 million fire station that is expected to dramatically reduce response times throughout the base.

"These new facilities indicate the strong commitment by NASA to what Goddard and Wallops do every day and really prepare us for many, many decades into the future," said NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Director Chris Scolese.
