Operation "Impact" Results in Multiple Arrests and Community Outreach in Kent County

Posted: Updated:

KENT COUNTY, Del. - Multiple Delaware State Police units worked together with the help of several agencies to complete a multi-phase operation on Oct. 3, to address crime issues in Kent County.

The operation called Impact used law enforcement to "round-up" individuals who were wanted for drug distribution and other street crimes. Police then followed up with the community to provide resources and assistance once the round-up was done.

According to officials, the round-up resulted in 24 individuals being arrested for various crimes. The arrests lead to 38 charges that include Failure to Appear, Failure to Pay, and Violation of Probation. There were also eight criminal charges filed from the arrests, which stemmed from two active Methamphetamine labs being discovered on Lion Hope Road in Clayton, Delaware.

Police say on Oct. 5, Troopers were assisted by local departments in a drug enforcement phase in the communities of Dover Estates, Meadowbrook Acres, and Generals Greene. The phase lead to the arrest of 6 individuals and 7 criminal charges.

The third phase was conducted on Oct. 6, when the Delaware State Police Community Outreach Unit went out to the communities, with assistance from other units and departments, to explain the purpose of their presence on Oct. 5. Troopers also worked to build relationships and trust in the community by providing residents with assistance and support.

While spending time in the communities, Troopers and Health and Social Services enrolled or assisted residents with job applications, Medicaid enrollment, obtaining smoke detectors, and many other measures.
