Autumn Wine Festival Held in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md--Sunday was a windy day that had many people bundled up. But the cool weather didn't stop people from grabbing their glasses and filling it with wine at the Autumn Wine Festival in Salisbury.

Crystal Records celebrated her birthday at the festival. She says it's one of her favorite events on the Eastern Shore.

"You get to try a lot of things that you wouldn't buy in the store, so it's nice to discover new wines," she said.

Local wine companies also love the festival. Jennifer Layton, general manager at Layton's Chance, a winery in Vienna, Maryland, says the festival is the perfect chance to educate locals on Delmarva's wine selection.

"It is definitely not thought of a wine-growing area; you have a lot of humidity which is difficult to grow grapes," says Layton.

A significant investment, Layton says is paying off this weekend.

"Some of our current customers bring others that have never heard of us," says Layton.
