SALISBURY, Md.- Piles of dirt and some orange cones mark a new beginning for a piece of property at the intersection of East Church Street, Route 13, and Route 50 in Salisbury. The building that sat on that property has been torn down.

The building was once a controversial adult store before sitting in disrepair.

The Salisbury City Council voted to buy the property back in February.

Mayor Jake Day said the plan is to turn the area into a pocket park and add a mural.

Neighbors say the development will be positive for their area.

"Kids [have to] go somewhere to play and stuff 'cause there's a lot of kids in this area," said Yolanda Briddell.

Day said the re-development will probably take a few months.
