13 Wicomico Businesses Pass Routine Alcohol Compliance Check

SALISBURY, Md.- Officials say 13 businesses passed a routine Wicomico County Alcohol Task Force compliance check on Monday.

The task force is comprised of the Wicomico County Liquor License Department, Maryland State Police, the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the Salisbury Police Department, the Fruitland Police Department and the Wicomico County Attorney's Office.

Named "Operation Spot Check," the operation uses police cadets to monitor sales to underage people at various licensed establishments throughout the county.

Richard Gardner, the chief inspector at the Wicomico County Board of License Commissioners, said 13 licensed establishments were checked and none of them failed for a 100 percent pass rate.

The following locations passed:

  • Walston Switch Sunoco, 31997 Beaver Run Drive, Salisbury 
  • Busters Seafood & Grill, 1210 Nanticoke Road, Salisbury
  • Parsonsburg Quick Stop, 7181 Parsonsburg Road, Parsonsburg
  • Center City Exxon, 500 S. Salisbury Blvd., Salisbury
  • Shore Stop, 1140 Parsons Road, Salisbury
  • Winterplace Market, 6731 Hobbs Road, Salisbury
  • Vintage Beer & Wine, 610 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury
  • Pittsville Mart, 3440 Old Ocean City Road, Pittsville
  • Shore Stop, 1020 Eastern Shore Drive, Salisbury
  • T’s Mini Market, 400 N. Salisbury Blvd., Salisbury
  • Autumn Grove Tiger Mart, 1801 Autumn Grove Court, Salisbury
  • Truitt Street Goose Creek, 111 Truitt Street, Salisbury
  • Shell Quick Stop, 900 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury

Gardner said licensee for establishments that fail the compliance checks will be summoned before the Board of License Commissioners for a show cause hearing and could face a fine or a license or a license suspension or both. Clerks who sell the alcohol to an underage cadet will be charged by the officers of the Task Force.
