Probation Check Leads to Drug and Firearm Charges in Dover

DOVER, Del.- A police raid on a Dover home led to a man's arrest on multiple drug and firearm charges while he was still on probation. 

Dover police said they arrested 53-year-old Nathan Ward around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said that prior to the arrest, probation officers arrived at Ward's home on North Kirkwood Street for a curfew check and saw marijuana in plain view. 

According to police, officers then conducted an administrative search of the home that led to the following items being found: 

  • 279.5 grams of marijuana
  • 126 .5mg Alprazolam pills
  • 157 1mg Alprazolam pills
  • One Oxycodone pill
  • Approximately .6 grams of crack cocaine
  • 2 digital scales
  • Packaging material
  • Approximately 100 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition
  • Approximately 23 rounds of 20 gauge ammunition
  • Savage arms .22 caliber/20 gauge "under-over" shotgun
  • $6,070 in cash (drug proceeds)

Police say Ward was taken into custody as a result of the search, he was committed to SCI and charged with multiple possession of Drug and Firearm charges, as well as Violation of Probation.
