Sussex County Woman Named Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year in New Castle

LEWES, De.- Sussex County entrepreneur Patricia Rivera is leaving her mark across Delaware. Recently, Rivera received the 2018 Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year Award from the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce.

"I really believe it takes a whole tribe to make a successful entrepreneur," says Rivera.

Rivera is the owner of Lewes, Delaware-based Hook PR & Marketing. She also is a member of the Hispanic Commission and its the Board President of La Esperanza.

"Entrepreneurship is really an equalizer it allows us at all different levels to live the life we really want," she adds.

Rivera was 7 when her father moved the family from Bolivia to the United States. Before starting her career as an entrepreneur, Rivera worked as a writer for The New York Times, The News Journal and the Dallas Morning News.

In 2007, she started her firm Hook PR & Marketing, based in Sussex County. Since then the company has clients statewide, including the Delaware Higher Education Office, $tand By Me, Telamon Corporation, NCALL Research, and Perdue Farms.

Rivera was recognized at the chamber’s 28th Women’s Leadership Conference, held Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware.
