GEORGETOWN, Del.- The Sussex County Sheriff's Office is warning of another phone scam.

In this latest scam, the caller poses as a sheriff's deputy and claims that the recipient of the call missed a court appearance and that a warrant is out for their arrest. In order to avoid arrest, the scammer tells the victim to send a prepaid gift card that would later be reimbursed.

The Sussex County Sheriff's Office wants to remind everyone that deputies will never use phone or email to collect funds, fines or fees and that all subpoenas or other court-related documents will always be delivered in person.
