Brandywine Valley SPCA Rescues Dozens of Puppies from Mississippi

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del.- The Brandywine Valley SPCA is giving nearly 100 puppies a second lease on life.

The SPCA says that on Sunday 80 puppies were flown into the Georgetown Airport from overcrowded shelters in Mississippi. The flight-- in partnership with Wings of Rescue-- was part of the BVSPCA Second Chance Program, where highly adoptable animals at risk of being euthanized due to shelter overcrowding are brought to the no-kill facility. The SPCA says down south, there are more puppies than adopters, whereas puppies are in high demand in shelters around our region.

The Brandywine Valley SPCA says the puppies are being brought in ahead of the SPCA's Mega Adoption Event at the Delaware State Fairgrounds, where all adoption fees are lowered to $25.

The BVSPCA says Sunday's flight is the 14th with Wings of Rescue. The BVSPCA says that together, the two groups have saved more than 1,000 lives.
