Update: Fire Officials Arrest New Jersey Man for Arson Fire

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has arrested a New Jersey man in connection with an early December house trailer fire that was ruled an arson.

Authorities say Charles Brown (31), of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, was charged with second-degree arson, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing and breach of release. Officers say all are felony charges with the exception of breach of release, which is a misdemeanor.

Officials say the blaze, reported shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Dec. 6, occurred in the unit block of East Pinewood Dr. near South State St. The Dover Fire Department responded to the call and arrived on the scene with an active fire.

State fire investigators were called to the scene to conduct the investigation. The fire was deliberately started inside the house trailer. Deputy fire marshals have developed what they call significant leads and are pursuing those leads in an effort to make an arrest.

Officials estimate damages at $30,000. One person was transported to the Kent General Hospital in stable condition for lacerations.
