Surprise, Free Decorations for Home of the Brave Veterans Home in Milford

MILFORD, Del.- Christmas came early for those at the Home of the Brave in Milford.

In mid-December, company Christmas Decor surprised the transitional home for veterans with free Christmas decorations and installation, as part of Christmas Decor's national program to decorate selected military family home for free.

"This is their home so we want to make it look like home at Christmas," says Christmas Decor General Manager Mike Gray. "When we are all done we want to make it look like a picture postcard."

Home of the Brave Executive Director Jessica Finan called the gesture phenomenal.

"We don't typically have these types of decorations. We can't afford to do so ourselves," she says. "If we had to outfit the house I'm sure it would be thousands of dollars and of course we channel all of our money into housing the homeless veterans instead of decorating."

The move was appreciated by those who call Home of the Brave home, like Army veteran Robert Colbourn.

"It means a lot," he says. "That they haven't forgotten us."

Christmas Decor will come take down the decorations--again free of charge--sometime in January.

"All the veterans here have served our country and we want to say something back to them to say thank you," Gray tells WBOC.
